After a 2025 filled with uncertainty — and met by community healthcare stakeholders’ usual outpouring of compassion, collaboration, and good-old-fashioned hustle — even the most stalwart industry insiders say they’re welcoming a fresh start in 2026.

We gathered thought leaders from across Avita Care Solutions to weigh in on the top focus areas for our covered entity partners in the upcoming year. Covered entities should strengthen their compliance to protect program eligibility, avoid audit findings and repayment risk, and preserve the drug savings that support patient care and safety-net services. Strong compliance demonstrates responsible stewardship of federal resources, maintains credibility with HRSA and manufacturers, and reduces operational and financial disruptions. Consistent compliance is essential to sustaining the 340B program and ensuring it continues to benefit vulnerable patient populations.”

5. Anticipate how patient insurance changes affect PrEP adherence and HIV risk

“The annual closing of ACA Open Enrollment and insurance premium increases are affecting some patients’ ability to obtain or maintain coverage, and they may find themselves out of PrEP despite the ongoing risk of HIV exposure and infection. We’ve seen individuals seroconvert, having run out of medication while not understanding the risk introduced by gaps in dosing and adherence. In addition to helping patients access affordable insurance or other stopgap programs, we should be counseling them on how to manage breaks in PrEP, and, when restarting it, the need to take oral PrEP for seven consecutive days for full protection.”
