The New Year is traditionally symbolic of hope and renewal. After a 2025 filled with uncertainty — and met by community healthcare stakeholders’ usual outpouring of compassion, collaboration, and good-old-fashioned hustle — even the most stalwart industry insiders say they’re welcoming a fresh start in 2026.
We gathered thought leaders from across Avita Care Solutions to weigh in on the top focus areas for our covered entity partners in the upcoming year. They offered insights on topics ranging from business strategy to 340B compliance and sustainability to build a list of five New Year’s resolutions every covered entity should make.
Of course, at Avita, we know that each of our covered entity partners is different, which is why we specialize in strategies tailored to their missions, size, goals, and community needs. But one thing’s for sure: The adage, “What the new year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year,” has never been more apropos. By fostering collaborative community partnerships with an eye to the future, we can work together to bring patients the care they need and deserve.
1. Commit, communicate, and celebrate
“It’s easy to lose sight of what we do and why we do it in times of uncertainty. Having a clear and concise mission helps set expectations, boost morale, and drive success. The best organizations embrace their mission and use it as the basis for all decisions. By using your mission as the foundation for your strategy, you develop an actionable and sustainable plan that resonates with team members and partners. Once you commit to your mission and strategy, communicate it to all stakeholders, share your progress, identify your challenges, and celebrate your achievements to enhance engagement, support culture, and drive results.”

2. Deliver good vibes for great work
“Creating a positive workplace culture is crucial for keeping employees engaged. When team members feel satisfied and motivated at work, they’re more likely to take initiative and collaborate effectively. Adding appropriate enthusiasm and brief moments of levity throughout the day can make routine responsibilities more manageable and reinforce team morale. Additionally, thoughtful actions foster respectful and productive interactions among colleagues. Together, these behaviors promote open communication, elevate energy, and contribute to higher overall performance.”

3. Protect 340B through strong compliance
“Growing regulatory scrutiny, manufacturer constraints, and operational complexity increase the risk of noncompliance and the erosion of 340B savings. Covered entities should strengthen their compliance to protect program eligibility, avoid audit findings and repayment risk, and preserve the drug savings that support patient care and safety-net services. Strong compliance demonstrates responsible stewardship of federal resources, maintains credibility with HRSA and manufacturers, and reduces operational and financial disruptions. Consistent compliance is essential to sustaining the 340B program and ensuring it continues to benefit vulnerable patient populations.”

4. Innovate with compassion and humility
Across every industry, organizations and teams are adopting Artificial Intelligence solutions to gain efficiencies and a competitive edge. Covered entities have the same options, but it’s imperative that they do so while staying true to their missions. Efficiency doesn’t take the place of compassion, and intelligence doesn’t take the place of community. Technological leaps in areas like documentation and business intelligence should augment the care you provide rather than be a substitute for it. Use innovative technology to help your covered entity get better at being itself.”

5. Anticipate how patient insurance changes affect PrEP adherence and HIV risk
“The annual closing of ACA Open Enrollment and insurance premium increases are affecting some patients’ ability to obtain or maintain coverage, and they may find themselves out of PrEP despite the ongoing risk of HIV exposure and infection. We’ve seen individuals seroconvert, having run out of medication while not understanding the risk introduced by gaps in dosing and adherence. In addition to helping patients access affordable insurance or other stopgap programs, we should be counseling them on how to manage breaks in PrEP, and, when restarting it, the need to take oral PrEP for seven consecutive days for full protection.”
