This June, Avita will stand with the LGBTQ+ community — as we do every Pride Month and throughout the year — steadfast in our promise to provide compassionate, inclusive, and integrated healthcare and pharmacy services to a group of individuals who are often distressingly stigmatized and unacceptably underserved. I hope you’ll join us in honoring Pride not just as a celebration of identity and visibility, but in true allyship, inspired by the resilience and ongoing fight for inclusion led by our LGBTQ+ team members, friends, loved ones, patients, advocacy leaders, and other stakeholders every day.
But Pride Month isn’t about Avita.
It’s about the LGBTQ+ community’s pursuit of fundamental human rights, including the right to equitable and culturally competent healthcare. Over the past 50 years, following the Stonewall uprising and the establishment of LGBTQ+ rights organizations, great strides have been made to reduce discrimination, hatred, and violence against this largely marginalized population.

Standing united with the LGBTQ+ community
However, as I write this, a significant amount of work remains, particularly to restore the essential progress made in LGBTQ+ rights that have been undermined in the current political turmoil. A brief refresher:
- In the first five months of 2025, government actions, including an executive order, have resulted in the removal of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) language and guidelines from federal websites, as well as the dismantling of DEI initiatives across various federal agencies. This affects key organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which are crucial in leading and funding LGBTQ+ healthcare and HIV prevention and treatment programs.
- At the state level, there are now over 100 bills imposing healthcare restrictions and barriers on the LGBTQ+ community that ultimately have the potential to negatively impact access to compassionate, comprehensive, and inclusive care. Legislation ranges from limiting entry to public restrooms and redefining sex within gender identity to cutting funding for essential healthcare. To be blunt, these are heartbreaking and disruptive attempts to restrict LGBTQ+ rights and reverse healthcare equality progress.
As I mentioned earlier, Pride Month isn’t about Avita. But our leadership team has been asked about our organization’s position during these complex times, and I want to make the answer crystal clear:
As Avita and its legacy companies have done for more than 50 years, we stand united with our LGBTQ+ patients and the covered entities that provide critical healthcare services to them. We believe that everyone deserves access to high-quality, personalized healthcare — free from fear, stigma, or discrimination. This belief guides our work, whether we are delivering pharmacy services, providing clinical care, or partnering with organizations on the front lines of community health. And not just in June, but every day of the year.

A team committed to compassionate LGBTQ+ healthcare
At the heart of Avita’s commitment to the LGBTQ+ community are its team members. Whether their role offers them a front seat to patient-facing care, involves crucial research into best practices in serving the wellness needs of LGBTQ+ individuals, places them as thought leaders who publicly share key insights with our industry and advocacy partners, or posts them behind the scenes making sure the “lights come on” every day, the impact is measurable. Their dedication, especially during uncertain times, conveys a powerful message: that we will not be deterred. Avita will continue to stand by our patients and provide covered entities with the services they need to support their communities. We will advocate for access, dignity, and inclusive healthcare that works for everyone.
Together, we are stronger, and together, we continue to affirm that everyone deserves care without exception.
