The Grammys? The Oscars? Meh.

For the Avita team, our greatest honor comes from successfully helping patients, covered entity partners, and local communities remove barriers to health equity for underserved populations. This winter, we were humbled to receive awards from our friends at REACH LA and Carolinas LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce. Read on to learn more.

Avita Pharmacy is working in some of the most marginalized areas in the community across the nation, and their presence is key to the survival of many.

“Avita is key to the survival of many.”

In December, Carolina’s LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce recognized Avita Pharmacy with its Corporate Engagement Award. The Chamber’s mission is to “empower small business entrepreneurs and professionals, collaborate with nonprofit advocates, and engage with business and civic leaders to support policies that foster a more inclusive and welcoming business community.” One of the largest LGBTQ+ chambers in the southeast, the organization drives equitable change within the Charlotte, North Carolina region’s workplaces and marketplace.

With pharmacies onsite at RAO Community Health in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Affinity Health Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina, as well as a central fill location in Salisbury, North Carolina, Avita is dedicated to serving the greater Charlotte area. “Our commitment to community engagement guides our daily practices,” says Tarik Smith, pharmacist-in-charge at RAO. “We continue to be inspired by this remarkably resilient and vibrant community, are humbled by this recognition, and look forward to future collaborative opportunities.”

"Avita demonstrates the highest standards of ethical conduct, innovation, and shared vision.”

January in Los Angeles brought sunny skies and a Community Partnership award from REACH LA at the organization’s 30-year anniversary celebration. A covered entity partner, REACH LA offers “HIV prevention education, HIV testing, and linkage to care and support services for HIV positive and high-risk negative youth and young adults.”

“I love the work that REACH LA does in the LGTBQ+ community to provide safe and affordable access to health care and pharmacy services,” said Leslie Stone, Avita strategic account executive, upon accepting the award for Avita’s dedication to expanding programs at REACH LA and within the community. “I’m honored to help their mission and look forward to continuing to support the important work they’re doing.”

“Avita Pharmacy has been selected because [they] demonstrate excellence and the highest standards of ethical conduct, innovation, and shared vision,” says REACH LA Executive Director Miguel Bujanda. “[They] and other award recipients stood out as leading partners who exemplify ethical standards and true friends of REACH LA.”
